"Model Prison" Museum

The Model Prison declared National Monument, is the only penitentiary of his type in America. There, the leader of the Cuban Revolution kept prison along with his companions after the Attack to the Barracks Moncada in the year 1953.
This museum keeps intact these memoirs and it is a very interesting place to know the history of the Isle..

"El Abra" declared National Monument, was a hot refuge for the Cuban Apostle, José Martí, during 1870 and 1871 when he had 17 years old after having fulfilled a brutal condemnation of works forced with shackles of iron in the feet, in the quarries of San Lázaro and the following prison in the Hut.
The José Maria Sardá's family received Marti as his own family for two months.
