Small geographical description
The Isle of Youth is located in the south western region of the Isle of Cuba, to 100 kilometers of Havana. It possesses a territorial extension of 2 204 km2, for that reason, this Isle is the second one into extension of the Cuban archipelago. The Isle of Youth is considered like Special Municipality of the Republic of Cuba.
The Isle of the Youth has important marble and kaolin fields and his most important rivers are Las Nuevas and Las Casas.
Between the principal mountainous elevations of the Isle of Youth, we can find La Sierra de Caballos with 293 meters and Las Casas with 262 meters approximately. In the most north zone of the Isle, La Sierra Cañeda is located with 310 meters.
